Kingston University is a Public institution. Although its history dates back over 100 years to its roots in Kingston Technical College in 1899, it was granted University status by the UK government in 1992, thus making it one of the New universities.

Kingston is a large university, located in one of the safest boroughs in London, offering an innovative range of courses.

 

Location and facilities

 

Kingston University is based in Kingston upon Thames, a busy riverside town on the borders of London and Surrey.

Kingston upon Thames has something for everyone, including:

  • a wide selection of shops, bars, restaurants and pubs;
  • easy access to beautiful countryside, Richmond Park and Hampton Court; and
  • a rich history dating back to Anglo-Saxon times.

The University has 5 campuses, each combining state-of-the-art facilities with a friendly study environment, setting modern architecture against a backdrop of natural beauty.

Penrhyn Road campus: It is the hub of student activity- home to the students’ union headquarters, the gym and the health centre. Students from all campuses converge on this large complex.

Students based here: arts and social sciences; civil engineering and construction; computing and information systems; mathematics and statistics; radiography; science; and surveying.

 

Kingston Hill campus: It is a modern hillside campus set in landscaped gardens three miles outside Kingston town centre. It enjoys a real community feel.

Students based here: business; education; health; law; music; and social care.

 

Knights Park campus: This campus has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The riverside setting provides an appropriately picturesque backdrop for the University’s design students.

Students based here: architecture; and art and design.

 

Roehampton Vale campus: A modern building close to Richmond Park. Its top-quality facilities, designed exclusively for engineering students, provide important vocational experience.

Students based here: aerospace engineering; automotive engineering; motorcycle engineering; and mechanical engineering.

 

St George’s campus: Health and social care courses are run in partnership with St George’s, University of London (SGUL). Some students are therefore based at SGUL’s campus at St George’s Hospital in Tooting, south-west London.

Students based here: advanced practice (healthcare); clinical practice; healthcare practice; maternal and child health; midwifery; paramedic science; physiotherapy; and rehabilitation.
