Objectives of the study

    The objectives of the present investigation are mentioned below:

  1. To identify the terminal competencies of rural girls in home science at intermediate level.
  2. To identify the terminal competencies of urban girls in home-science at intermediate level.
  3. To evaluate achievement of the competencies of home­ science of rural girls at intermediate level.
  4. To evaluate achievement of the competencies of home­ science of urban girls at intermediate level.
  5. To find out the effect of socio-economic status on the achievement scores of urban girls.
  6. To investigate the relationship of socio-economic status sore and the achievement scores of rural girls.
  7. To find out the different points of loss ratio’s of home science scores obtained by rural and urban girls on the lines prepared by Novick and Lewis in the context of corrected items.

Hypotheses of the study

     On the basis of objectives listed above the following hypotheses have been formulated:

  1. There is no difference in terminal competencies of home science of rural and urban girls.
  2. The evaluation of home science achievement of urban girls is better than that of rural girls.
  3. There is no effect of socio-economic status on the home science scores of rural girls.
  4. There is no relationship between socio-economic status and the terminal competencies of urban girls.
  5. The loss ratios of rural as well as urban girls are equal on the lines prepared by “Novick and Lewis”.

Limitation of the Study

     This work has been carried out under several limitations. Some of them have been mentioned below:

  1. The study has been conducted only on a representative sample of 500 girls at intermediate level.
  2. The investigator has prepared Home Science Achievement Test for intermediate level through which terminal competencies has been measured.
  3. Although there are several effecting factors on the scores of terminal competencies of the student but the most important factor i.e. socio-economic status could be studied.
  4. Terminal competencies of home science have been identified through Bayesian and Binomial Models.
  5. Due to lack of time and facilities in Intermediate Colleges identification of terminal competencies of home science in practical could not be studied.
